jSEDI is committed to ensuring the integrity of the scientific record of submissions and of the evaluation and publication processes. The journal implements best practices in publication ethics, in accordance with the 16 principles of transparency developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). A list of the standards applied can be found, for example, in the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The Code of Ethics applies to everyone involved in the publication process: authors, readers, proofreaders, translators and editors.
The editorial staff makes every effort to detect and prevent the publication of articles where the integrity of the research has not been respected, including plagiarism, manipulation or absence of citations, falsification/fabrication of data, among others. Authors are asked to guarantee that their article has not been published or submitted in parallel to other journals; that permissions have been obtained for the use of copyrighted materials such as images, and that the rights of third parties or institutions have not been infringed.
In order to ensure a reliable and open publication process, all authors, readers and editors are requested to declare via our submission platform or directly to the editor-in-chief any interest that may compromise or influence the validity of the review and publication or create a conflict of interest.
By default jSEDI maintains the anonymity of reviewers, unless the reviewer explicitly identifies themselves (e.g., by signing the review).
The journal provides transparent information on its bodies and functions.
Every effort is made to ensure the rights of copyright holders for any materials included in a jSEDI manuscript. If jSEDI inadvertently fails to identify and seek the consent of a copyright holder, the journal is ready to take the necessary steps to rectify the issue.
The names and e-mail addresses published on the journal's website are used exclusively for the purposes stated by the journal and will not be made available to third parties for any reason whatsoever.
The journal aims to contribute to the development of cumulative and reproducible science through an open and evolving editorial policy. It has taken pioneering initiatives by creating model papers and data papers sections.
jSEDI defends open science for all, reproducible and shared without constraint. Articles are published under a CC-BY-4.0 license.
Authors guarantee that their manuscript is their own original work, that it does not infringe on the moral rights or intellectual property of any other person or entity.
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), such as Large Language Models (LLMs) or other generative AI and AI-assisted technologies, may only be used as an aid in the preparation of manuscripts. Authors are required to inform jSEDI of the any use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the research, writing and translation process for the submitted article.
Authors must declare any potential conflict of interest, whether professional, financial or otherwise, that could be construed as having influenced their manuscript. Authors should also declare all sources of funding for the research presented in the contribution.
The corresponding author ensures that only the authors and all authors who made significant contributions to the conception, design, and interpretation of the submitted study are listed as co-authors. Acknowledgements are encouraged for contributors who have provided substantial assistance to the published work but did not contribute to the conception, design, and/or interpretation.
Authors warrant that their proposed article does not contain any defamatory, fraudulent, or knowingly inaccurate statement.
Authors warrant that their manuscript is their own work and has not been previously published, nor under consideration for publication by any other journal.
Authors certify that they have cited other publications they have used in their work in an appropriate manner.
If an error or inaccuracy is discovered after publication, authors will promptly inform the journal and cooperate to correct or retract the article.
Reviewers should promptly inform the handling editor if they feel insufficiently qualified or do not have sufficient time to review the submission.
Reviewers declare to journal management at the time of acceptance or rejection of the online review application any potential conflict of interest, whether professional, financial, or otherwise, that could be construed as having influenced their review process.
The peer review process is strictly confidential. Information or correspondence about a submission is not shared with anyone outside of this process. No unpublished information, arguments, or interpretations contained in a submission may by used or disclosed prior to publication of the article without the consent of the authors. If a reviewer wishes to include any other persons in the review process, they are asked to contact the handling editor in advance.
Reviewers may not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to assist and/or conduct their review process.
Manuscripts should be judged objectively, respecting the intellectual independence of the authors. Reviewers may clearly express their points of view, with logically supported arguments. Personal (ad hominem) criticism is prohibited, and will not be utilized by the journal.
Reviewers are asked to inform jSEDI editor(s) of any substantial similarity between the manuscript under review and any other document published or submitted simultaneously to another journal of which they are aware.
Reviewers are asked to assess whether the authors have appropriately referenced other works in the field, and to ensure that the presentation is objective. They are also asked to help ensure that no key references have been excluded.
