jSEDI accepts submission of the following types of articles, all of which are subject to our peer review process (see below for details):
Regular Article: A standard contributed manuscript following the classical style of scientific exposition, which typically contains an introduction to establish context and motivation, an explanation and justification of the methods employed, a clear and transparent explication of the key results, and a discussion of the implications of the findings for the questions raised in the introduction. There is no strict upper limit on the length of a Regular Article, however, it should be well-written/composed, its length justified by its content, and not longer than necessary to convey the main points.
Express Letter: A condensed manuscript that presents timely impactful results that justify the need for an expedited editorial process with a target turnaround peer review time of 4 weeks or less. To facilitate rapid processing, an Express Letter ought to be concisely written at around 3,000 words or less, and contain no more than 4 figures/tables in the main text. Supplementary information containing technical details is welcome, however, the main points should be contained in the main text and understandable to the readership without needing to consult the supplement.
Review: A manuscript that surveys a topic of interest to the SEDI community and presents a history of past research, a survey of present trends, a synthesis of the present state of the field, and future directions. Please consult the Editorial Board to propose a review prior to submission.
Comment: A letter that critiques or challenges the findings of a scientific study previously published in JSEDI. A Comment should be no longer than necessary to convey the main points of the critique.
Reply to Comment: A reply letter to a Comment written by the authors of the original study.
