The Journal Francophone de Tribologie (JFT) is a peer-reviewed journal founded in 2026 and published by the GST Tribology Scientific and Technical Group of the French Association of Mechanics. The journal continuously publishes significant theoretical, numerical, and experimental contributions in the field of tribology and related disciplines, as part of an open dissemination approach for French-speaking scientific research. The Journal Francophone de Tribologie promotes the publication of scientific articles in French; however, submissions in English are also welcome. A yearly special issue will also be published, gathering papers presented during the International French-speaking Tribology Days of the corresponding year.
The journal is dedicated to the publication of fundamental and applied contributions across the entire field of tribology, covering contact, friction, wear, and lubrication phenomena. Contributions may follow theoretical, numerical, experimental, or industrial approaches, illustrating the diversity and richness of tribology.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
JFT is an open-access publication: all content is freely available without access or distribution restrictions. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without prior permission from the publisher or authors, provided that authorship is properly acknowledged through the applicable Creative Commons license. This policy complies with the definition of open access proposed by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
Articles published in JFT are distributed under Creative Commons licenses, preferably CC BY 4.0, although CC BY-NC-ND and CC BY-SA licenses are also accepted. This allows users to freely copy, distribute, and share content in accordance with the selected license terms.
Authors retain full rights to their work and grant JFT a non-exclusive right of publication.
The journal charges no submission or publication fees.
The editorial board of JFT oversees the selection of conferences and workshops whose proceedings may be published in the series. Each proposal submitted by organizers is evaluated according to several criteria, including the scientific track record of the event, the quality of previous publications, and the reputation of its organizers and scientific committee. Every proposal is reviewed by at least two members of the editorial board.
The scientific evaluation of submitted papers is handled by the organizing committee of each event. Responsibility for acceptance decisions therefore lies entirely with the organizers. Depending on the practices of each conference or workshop, the review process must be single-blind: authors are known to reviewers, while reviewers remain anonymous to authors.
The following policies apply to each volume published in JFT, as well as to the articles they contain:
JFT relies on the Episciences.org platform for hosting and publishing volumes, while ensuring long-term preservation through archiving in open repositories (e.g., HAL, arXiv, Zenodo), whose links are maintained over time.
JFT adheres to the principles defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding scientific publishing ethics. Organizers of published events are also expected to follow these guidelines.
Any allegation of scientific misconduct related to an article published in JFT must be reported to the Editor-in-Chief of JFT as well as to the organizers of the relevant event. A joint assessment will be conducted to examine the facts and propose an appropriate solution. In the case of confirmed plagiarism, for example, the mention "plagiarism" will be added both in the JFT database and on the archived version of the document.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Episciences platform for hosting the JFT series and for the support provided by its editorial team.
